I’ve heard a lot about GDPR Compliance and got worried I might get sued in Europe. I went ahead and updated the site theme and figured it was a good time to update everyone with some Floydasaurus news!
New Theme: Fluida
The old theme, a modified Amadeus, was pretty enough.
It loaded like a bazillion things and slowed the site down to a crawl, taking up to 10 seconds to load in some tests.
Fluida is a whole hell of a lot cleaner, and although I’ve somehow managed to fuck up the featured images from within the posts and the top Doug image, I think it is something I’ll be able to figure out.
Site loads seem to be closer to the 4 or 5 second mark now, which isn’t ideal, but good enough for someone who doesn’t particularly know what they are doing anyways.
Life and Site News
I haven’t been updating the site much in the past month or so. In truth I haven’t been doing much of anything.
Trying to learn new life skills and change the way I’ve done things for the past thirty years to compensate for my recent ADHD diagnosis has been really rough.
On top of all of this, the vitriol against Latinx people has escalated to the point our President is putting immigrant families in concentration camps.
Amazon affiliates as a revenue stream is basically dead on arrival. It wasn’t doing anything except making my writing incredibly weird and a pain in the ass.
On the other hand, I got accepted into Merch by Amazon. It’s a print on demand service for shirts and shit.
The cool part being I’m going to have access to Amazon’s absurdly high levels of traffic.
I’ve always been proud of my art, but now I’ll be able to see if I’m deluded or not!
I’m writing this post from my phone, so linking will have to wait for when I get back to a PC in a few days. Once I get more settled into an Amazon routine I’m going to start back streaming as well, so that means more updates more often all around.
